DescriptionThis trail is a 13 mile trail that crosses Kauai from Princeville to the north to the Arboretum by Wailua on the south. I didn't attempt to run all the way across, but instead did this as an out and back. I started from Princeville on the north end, and made it a couple of miles running into the trail before turning around. It's a wide jeep trail, and even in a dry week in Kauai, there are puddles big enough to waterski on. :-) On a rainy or recently rainy day, you should expect to get your shoes wet, I did! Enter the trail from Kepaka street in Princeville (drive to the end, you can probably park at the water tower without anyone hassling you) or park at the shopping center in Princeville and run back on the main road a half a mile and up Kepaka street for a mile or two to get to the end, it's a nice run there too! For the section that I was in, I felt it was pretty well maintained, and the grass wasn't too high. I passed a waterfall in the distance within the first 2 miles, and there are some expansive views of the mountains and the ocean that the pictures don't seem to do justice too.
