Description8.2 mile round-trip ascent of Nevada's second highest peak. ~3,200' of gain in 4.1 miles. Hike or run starts at ~10,000' and climbs to the summit at 13,160'. Incredible views of Utah and Nevada. This hike/run will literally and figuratively take your breath away. The Summit Trailhead has only parking, but if you drive 0.8 miles further (towards the Wheeler Peak Campground to the Alpine Lake TH) there is a bathroom and more parking. This is a national park, so no dogs are allowed on the trails. Hike can be started at the Summit TH or the Alpine Lakes TH without too much added in the way of distance. You can get potable water in the Wheeler Peak Campground just 0.25 miles beyond the Alpine Lakes TH.
