The trail has no lighting, so its best used used from dawn to dusk, & parking is available at either terminus.

The trail is recently paved, attracting more cyclist and runners. There are no hills, it is vary flat, as most running in Charleston are is. The scenery varies from suburban to rural along the way. You will pass friendly people, and see some residential houses, marshland, creeks, gardens. The trail attracts runners, road cycling groups, individual cyclist, walkers, and families walking/running/or riding bikes. The eastern end runs through commercial and residential sections of the West Ashley neighborhood. There are a number of street crossings, but none of them carry much traffic, with the exception of Folly Road. As you get farther west, you will see some creeks, ponds, and wetlands, plus an agricultural experiment station. Plenty of wildlife can be observed in the marshes near the western end of the greenway.
