DescriptionTennessee Valley Road is the gateway to the Tennessee Valley section of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Parking at the shopping center at Tam Junction & running/cycling up Tennessee Valley Road to the trails is a nice alternative to the often-crowded GGNRA parking lot. Plus, the bonus is great local coffee, food & shopping options for you when you return (Equator, Cafe Del Soul, Good Earth Natural Market, Proof Labs and San Francisco Running Company, to name a few favorites!).

Leaving the shopping center area there is a pedestrian bridge to connect you to the multi-use path that runs alongside the beginning part of Tennessee Valley Road. Then, there is well-worn single-track until you hit Oakwood Valley trail on the south side of the road, or Rhubarb on the north side, at the GGNRA Tennessee Valley gateway sign. Rhubarb is a single track that will continue west, taking you up to the Tennessee Valley parking area, while Oakwood will climb south and intersect with Alta. A run from the shopping center to Tennessee Cove and back is approximately 7 miles. Many other route options and distances are possible, due to the seemingly endless trails in the GGNRA.

You can also cross Highway 1 and take the boardwalk to the Mill Valley/Sausalito Bike Path. Note: Weather conditions/temperatures can change rapidly due to fog.
