DescriptionIf heights don't bother you, a run/walk/bike across the Golden Gate Bridge is a must do in San Francisco. Killer views of the city, the bay, and Marin. For running or biking, the best time to go is early morning (sunrise to 9am) because the foot & wheel traffic is light on the path. During the day the bridge path gets crowded with tourists and harder to navigate (bikes can travel on the west side path at certain times of the day). Starting at the vista point on the Marin side to the cafe on the SF side is just shy of 4 miles round-trip. Add miles to your adventure on either side of the bridge by either: 1) heading toward the Presidio/Chrissy Field to the east, or Presidio/Land's End to the west on the SF side; or 2) picking up the Coastal Trail (go under the bridge at the Vista Point) and explore miles of trail in the Marin Headlands, or the beautiful historic buildings of Fort Baker (look for bike route sign to Sausalito after going under bridge to get to Ft. Baker).

Parking at Vista Point (Marin side) & East Battery (SF side) should be no problem early in the morning. Definitely more challenging later on the day and on weekends (another reason to get out early!). Note: you are running next to traffic, so this is not a serene run/walk/bike, but the views more than make up for it!
