DescriptionA beautiful, soft surface, rolling fire road that descends as you head north to its terminus at Sir Francis Drake Blvd (11.5 miles one way, 1530 ft in elevation at southern end, 320 at northern end). We started at the southern entrance off Bolinas-Fairfax Rd. The route takes you through towering redwoods and exposed chapparel, with awesome views of Bolinas Lagoon & Bay on the southern end. Continuing north drops you into ranchland with more exposure. While parking is more limited on the southern end, the redwoods kept us cool on a hot, summer day, and our car was also that way when we returned, a bonus on a 90+ degree day.

Popular with trail runners, hikers & mountain bikers (but not overly crowded; on a Sunday mid-morning we saw 6 bikes & 3 hikers over a 2 hour period). There is no water on this route.
