DescriptionA nice single-track that largely parallels Panoramic Hwy on the south-southwest side of Mt. Tam from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach (> 7 miles one way). Lots of variety: moss-covered redwood trees in shady sections, red bark manzanita in exposed areas, smooth dirt surface, technical rocky sections, several bridges crossing streams. You climb from approx. 1000 to 1500 ft from Mtn Home to Pantoll Ranger Station. The next 1.5 miles is relatively flat, and then you begin a 1500 ft descent over 2+ mile to the sea.

The trail intesects with many others in the Mt. Tam Watershed area; route options are many! No dogs or bikes on this trail.

Pin is dropped at Mt Tam State Park parking area across from Mountain Home Inn (no fee). To access the trail, cross the street and take Hog Back Rd past the Throckmorton Ridge Fire Station. The trail will be on your left just past the water tank. You can also pick up this trail at Bootjack parking area & Pantoll Ranger Station along Panoramic Hwy, and in Stinson Beach. Bathrooms & water at Bootjack & Pantoll, water at the fire station.
