DescriptionApproximately 4,500 acres of wilderness and natural open space land. Within the park lands are mature oaks, sycamores, and elderberry trees, two year round streams and over 30 miles of official trails. Many rare and endangered plants and animals make this park their home. This park is designated as a wildlife sanctuary (and as such, NOT dog friendly - though there is a few trails dogs are allowed on).

From the main parking lot, expect to spend the first 1-1.5 miles on closed-to-motorized-vehicles paved roads - there are numerous opportunities tocatch a single-track that runs alongside the road. Once at the "main trail" Wood Canyon Trail, the trail system options represent a sort of ladder - Wood Canyon trail traversing the canyon floor and West Ridge Trail along the... ridge. Connecting the two trails are numerous trails (the rungs of the ladder), each that very in degrees of length, technicality, and difficulty. From which one can link up many miles of any type of trail wanted. This is a very popular mountain biking park, so be on the lookout!

Popular stops include:
- "Top of the World" located on the Ridge Trail for a panoramic view of the Laguna coastline (and Catalina Island on a clear day).
- Cave Rock and Dripping Cave - accessed via the Wood Canyon trail.
- Canyon View Park located on the opposite end of the main entrance for a water stop and playground access.
View of the Saddlebacks from A&W Park along the West Ridge Trail .
