Park and enter at Chautauqua Park (Baseline & Grant). PArrive early because the lot can fill up. Otherwise, park on the street on Baseline Rd and walk in. Third alternative: Plenty of parking available at NCAR, free.
Head up the steady long climb up Bluebell, paved, until you reach the well-marked signs for the Mesa Trail. You can get to a countless trails & peaks from Chautauqua, including Green Mountain, Flagstaff, Mt. Sanitas (all peaks), including some of the bigger/most common trails like the Mesa Trail. Mesa is great for a long run. It's an awesome mix of everything you love about trails -- some hands-on-knees climbs, some fire roads, some nice 2-3-person wide trails, steady climbs, lots of ups and downs. ...They don't call it the Rockies for no reason! There may be a spot or two where you'll wonder if walking across a slanted rock face is the right way (yes it is). If you take the offshoot to NCAR it's a nice long distance.

There's a bathroom in the ranger station at Chautauqua Park, but no other access otherwise.
