DescriptionIndian Head Canyon is a natural open space area packed full of hiking, biking and walking trails, ranging from steep singletrack, to wide open double track paths. Enjoy the shade alongside a creek or work up a sweat hiking to the top of the trail area to take in a view of the Encinitas Ranch golf course.

Staying in the Canyon area will yield you about 1.5 hard earned miles. To make the effort longer, head east from the parking area and take a left, then a right, on the next trail you hit. This trail will climb out of the Canyon, cross over Quail Garden Rd. and hook up with the north side of the Encinitas Ranch Trails. Follow the trail to do a 5.5-6.0 mile loop.

Parking is available along Quail Hollow Drive, just east of Saxony. Dogs must be leashed at all times and kept on the trails. Bicycles are allowed on all Indian Head Canyon and Encinitas Ranch area trails.

  • A short neighborhood trail that is great for walking the dogs or just getting outside. The 1 mile loop has 2 steep grades. Get out early or late in the day because it can get hot! ( by Tracy on 2014-08-04 )
