DescriptionAnother beautiful So Cal trail that heads into the Santa Monica mountains with some amazing views out over Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu. The trail varies from single track (for the first few miles) then opens into well-groomed fire roads. Most day hikers do a ~ 3 mile loop (add a half mile or more depending where you park), and many will add another half mile (each way) to Skull Rock, then return down the other trail on the loop. You can continue past skull rock and connect with the Mulholland, Topanga and Backbone trails to make endless options and distances.
Porta potty at 'The Hub' (~mile 5.5), bathroom and water available at Trippet Ranch (~mile 8.5) and Los Liones trailhead (~mile 14)
You can also take the Rivas Canyon Trail (~2.5 miles) on the Eastern side of the park Park to get over to Will Rogers State Park. Keep going to the Backbone and back down Temescal Canyon Trail for a ~14 mile loop.
Some sections on the descent for runners on either side of the loop.
Mountain Bikers: pay attention to signs, some trails are closed to bikes.
Take plenty of water, it gets hot.
