DescriptionA steep, beautiful descent to the Colorado River. Busy trail, 2nd most popular canyon trail. There is no water on this trail so the park service does NOT recommend descending AND ascending on this trail. Use Bright Angel for the ascent, because of the availability of water. There is shuttle bus that can take you back to Yaki Point (near where S. Kaibab begins). Elevation change from rim to river is 4,860ft over 6.3 miles. Folks use this trail or Bright Angel for Rim to Rim hikes/runs, connecting to N. Kaibab on the canyon floor via the River Trail.
