DescriptionBeautiful ride from Truckee, CA to Lake Tahoe (and then some). This ride is so beautiful. Route 89 runs along the Truckee River. There is also a great gently rolling bike path that parallels 89 and goes to Tahoe City (edge of Lake Tahoe) which you can jump on at the Squaw Valley junction (Squaw Valley Rd and 89). Very beautiful. Riding along 89 is good. There is a wide smooth shoulder, so bikers can have safe travels through the forests and mountains.

Once you get to Tahoe City, why stop there? Feel free, but be safe because the roads can get very busy, to explore the roads that go around Lake Tahoe. Riding on the main road around Lake Tahoe is a bit more technical as there isn't much of a shoulder and there are some sharp, cranky, and hilly turns. Bikers do ride it, but be very careful. The views, however, are absolutely STUNNING!!!!!!!

Here is a good link for more information about riding around Lake Tahoe itself: http://www.tahoeadventuresports.com/rbikeindex/lakeride.htm and http://www.tahoeadventuresports.com/rbikeindex/rbikehome.htm
