DescriptionOld 40 that starts at Donner Lake in Truckee, CA and climbs to the high point by Donner Ski Ranch and Sugar Bowl and then continues on through the small village of Soda Springs and then more or less parallels I-80, but not so closely like you feel right by the highway. This route is a bikers paradise. There are amazing sights, the pavement is awesome, and the hills are worth the view at the top. The road along and up from Donner lake can feel a bit busy, but the cars are so used to the many bikers the ride up and down the route every day, they are very cautious and considerate. When you ride up Donner Pass to the top, there is a great lookout where you can rest and take in the view down towards Donner Lake. AMAZING!!!

This ride is a MUST if you come out to Truckee. You don't have to worry about possible rain on any trip because it is ALWAYS sunny. No joke. Blue skies and perfect temps ALL the time. So come on out!!!!
